My Aunt’s Story

Every story has got to have a beginning and can end anytime in the future. This time, it’s my aunt’s story which begins on one sunny morning when she came back from the market, bringing two big black plastic bags on each hand. A smile is there in her face, as if she has just won a lottery. When she came home I was in front of the TV and I think it was the first time I ever saw her come home with a smile like that. So, I was confused. Seeing me in my confused face, she just simply ssmiles and put her stuff on the table and start opening the largest bag.
“What was that smile about aunt? Have you just won a lottery?” I asked in curiosity. “No dear. It’s a fish.” Aunt said. She walks to the kitchen and took a little fish bowl and fills it with water. She put it on the table and a small fish appears to be swimming in the bowl. I still don’t understand her. What does a fish have to do with her life? But I keep it to myself and decided not to ask her.
At first, that fish was very weird for me because it keeps starring at me in horror. But as days passed by, my aunt took really good care of that little fish. I still can’t recognize what kind of fish it was, but it was getting bigger indeed. Usually at noon I would sit on a stool and watch that fish swim here and there in the bowl and we grew fond of each other. I called him ‘Predator’ since he looks so fierce and swim pretty fast.
3 months passed by, Predator was always swimming happily when I stop by to watch him. For me, Predator’s growth has been my greatest concern. When one day I was watching Predator, I get down into from what I’m thinking and start to realize that my aunt’s love and caring for Predator was like someone’s love and care that has been out looking for us which is way bigger than what my aunt can do for Predator. It’s God’s love for us that He had paid on the cross to pay our sins. It’s simply for love.
Looking out for Predator every evening brought me another kind of happiness I’ve never experienced before my aunt brought Predator home about a year ago. Now, everything changed since Predator died. Maybe he was too old and lonely. We were both sad when Predator died because Predator has taken a great part in both me and my aunt’s life. Now I understand why aunt was so happy when she can finally have Predator at home. Predator seems to bring my aunt happiness like what he did to me and looking at a pet fish can be another way to look out for another. My little hero Predator has taught me much. Thanks Predator J
