BOOK REVIEW

The book I spent my nose on was a book called Matilda, written by Roald Dahl. I decided to pick this book out simply because Matilda’s story goes right through to the space of my heart and it is a lovable story to be retold. So here goes Matilda.
Matilda Wormwood is another regular 5 year old girl in the town of England; with weird parents to live with. Her dad is a wicked secondhand car dealer which happens to use his wickedness to gain a lot of profits while her mother is just a housewife who plays bingo every afternoon two blocks away from their house. Matilda also has an older brother which her parents adore; but there aren’t so much exciting things about Matilda’s brother to be told about. Now here’s the thing that differs Matilda from the other kids around: her parents seem to not care about her so much.
She went to school at her age of five and a half, that’s the first proof of her parents’ uncaring attention for their smallest daughter. Matilda is quite extraordinary; to be very honest; due to her age which is still so young. She knew the times table by heart, she taught herself to read books and newspapers, and she even do some things grownups did. Her parents did not see how potential their daughter was, and never were they. Until comes the day of school. She went to Miss Honey’s class, and eventually Miss Honey is the first to notice that this little girl is a genius. Still, there were obstacles that were waiting to be finished.
Their school’s headmistress was the most feared lady in town, named Miss Agatha Trunchbull. But everybody knows her as Miss Trunchbull. She used to be an athlete and she is the first victim of every parent bullying their children. But they can eventually do nothing about this one Miss Trunchbull because as much as power she have, she also have the most honor around. One word that is most describing for Miss Trunchbull would be DEVASTATING.
The connection between Miss Trunchbull and Matilda was that Miss Trunchbull bought a secondhand car from Mr. Wormwood, Matilda’s father and he told Miss Trunchbull about how stinky his daughter could be while she wasn’t. So, the devastating Miss Trunchbull accused that Matilda was the one who put a newt in her jug of water when she first came into the first grade’s classroom while Matilda’s homeroom Miss Honey was begging Miss Trunchbull to move Matilda to a higher grade because she was too brilliant to just sit there in the first grade room.
Finally, because Matilda’s father’s work has been busted to cheat, the Wormwood family was taking the move to Spain. But Matilda, who have fallen in love with old England, her school, her friends, and Miss Honey finally asked her parents if she could stay with Miss Honey forever. What can you expect much if you have such an ignorant parents like Matilda’s? In the end, Matilda was permitted to live with Miss Honey and like any other good fiction stories, Matilda lived happily under the care of Miss Honey.
THE END
