THE NIGHT OF DOOM

It was far at night when I and my friend finally got our turn to have a journey around the camp ground. I was year 7 back then and I was paired up with a guy, my old classmate who is a genius named Winson. Our hands were tied up –my right hand with his left hand with a piece of long rafia rope. Now; we were supposed to travel to 3 posts with just 2 candles that me and Winson each brought.
Our first post was a house. We went into a room under the order of a higher grade student and put our hand into a bucket filled with dusty water. So we put our hand in, slowly sinking it deeper and deeper; until my hand pressed something squishy. I kept pressing until someone who was lying down on the bed near the bucket light up his flashlight and screamed. I screamed out of nerves too! I was shocked. I looked at Winson, he was pale.
Next, we started to light up our candles and went to a post where we were supposed to find an envelope under a dark, shady, and spooky tree with long grasses surrounding it. The envelope contains our next clue. It was a tough call until Winson found it and actually solved an easy math question (he is a genius, remember?) and then we were told to go to the next post by going down through a stair line on our left. We walked slowly as our candles were starting to run out. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a woman appeared and offered me a plastic bag. It was full of frogs! I didn’t scream, literally, because I wasn’t afraid of frogs. And so, we continued our journey.
The last post was guarded by 2 higher grade students and they asked us about what we had been through. We thought that was it because we were told to go back to the assembly hall. Well, it was it until both of our candles were blown out by the wind. There were no more lights to guide us the rest of the way back to the hall. Not to my acknowledgement, suddenly my left foot crushed into a hole! My heart raced like mad. Then I got angry to Winson of why didn’t he told me about the hole when he was walking right in front of me. He should have been there first! But there was to point of doing that. We walked down a couple more stairs until someone – or something suddenly grabs my right foot ankle. My heart just raced this time; it still caught the heartbeat from the previous fall into a hole.
Finally, we arrived back to the hall full of kids, retelling all the craziest experiences they’ve been through as they travelled the spooky camp grounds. Our hands were allowed to be separated again; but I still caught my breath every time I remembered all these crazy and nerve-wracking stories.
